Caryn

Skills for Life Support is provided by a team managed by Caryn Loftus, Network Manager for Skills for Life Network and Director of Summations Ltd. For the past twenty years, Caryn has worked in the field of adult literacy and numeracy as a tutor, manager and adviser. Whilst working freelance she has undertaken a wide range of projects both in the North East and nationally on behalf of CfBT, NIACE, the Basic Skills Agency, Learning and Skills Councils and individual providers.


Caryn's recent contracts have included:

  • CfBT, Lead Development Adviser - North East and Development Adviser for the LSIS Skills for Life Support Programme.
  • LSC, co-ordinating a project related to professional development within family learning
  • NIACE, developing and delivering training on literacy and numeracy through the context of finance and developing a training package on financial capability for money advisers
  • Success North CETT facilitating a provider peer coaching initiative
  • Skills Digital, as a Principal Network Manager, developing and contributing to a website and newsletter service through www.skillsforlifenetwork.com to support practitioners

Where appropriate, Caryn will call on the expertise of the Skills for Life Support Associates: experienced trainers, facilitators and advisers who specialise in areas such as Inspection, ICT, Functional Skills and Foundation Learning.


Finance and MIS Support

Summations Ltd can also provide support linked to finance and MIS through the skills of its other Director, Mike Loftus. Mike has over fifteen years experience as a senior manager at a college in the further education sector with Beacon status and judged by Ofsted to be Outstanding in all aspects of its provision. He has been responsible for many developments in the finance and MIS operations of the College. Since May 2010, Mike has provided interim support to several colleges and worked as an Improvement Adviser for LSIS.
